The real question for Obama…

April 2, 2008

…can he bowl over voters? Get a strike in PA?

Ok, done with those jokes. Obama’s “charm offensive” as it’s been dubbed is clearly working at least in execution. The media is covering (great Daily Show clip) this one campaign stop more than most any stump speech (and even some “big policy speeches“). The question is, will it resonate with voters in making him seem more like the “guy you want to have a beer with” (he literally had Yuengling at one stop as the media is also covering)? The campaign of course won’t want you to forget his intelligence, or you might just think of this guy.

Also, given Lou Dobbs’ nearly very racist slip when talking about how no one can discuss race without it being turned around on them, I find the nonchalant way in which commentators on Hardball tied the bowling story to racial stereotypes pretty interesting.
