Prop 8 Trial Begins

January 12, 2010

Lots of news today.  It’d be tough to write it all up, but here’s my attempt.  For constant updates from the trial, check out the Courage Campaign’s Prop 8 Trial Tracker.

  • And a basic report on the case by the Associated Press.
  • The Who’s Who of the Case
  • The trial begin today, and without live footage.  Don’t despair though, the opponents of marriage equality are facing questions that have to deal with facts and logic, and hopefully you’ll be able to see it soon.  Initially it was ruled that the trial would be taped and posted on YouTube.  That was appealed and sent to the Supreme Court who postponed their decision and will rule on Wednesday.  Judge Walker called for public input on the airing of this trial and found that 138,542 were in favor and 32 opposed the broadcast.
  • Ted Olson’s opening remarks.  Yes, Ted Olson of the Bush side of Bush v. Gore.
  • And updated coverage of today’s trial.

And an interview with one of the trial’s couples.
