Marriage Equality Round Up: January 19

January 19, 2010

A few interesting articles in the push for marriage equality:

  • Joe at AMERICAblog catches a growing conflict at the George Washington University between the group Allied in Pride who is hosting a marriage equality week and the College Republicans who have invited Meghan McCain to speak on redefining what it means to be a Republican.  Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that Republicans have spoken out strongly against marriage equality, despite being a campus with a disproportionately large gay population (many of whom actually belong to the College Republicans).
  • Margaret Hoover, the great granddaughter of President Hoover and a Fox News contributor, wrote a piece this week on why she supports marriage equality and why Republicans need to return to the right side of history on civil rights issues.  Don’t worry, there is plenty more room for conservatives who want to join Ms. Hoover on the right side of history.
  • A good recap of the morning from Bilerico of the testimony of Republican Mayor Jerry Sanders of San Diego.  You may remember his announcement that he supported marriage equality by invoking his daughter.
