Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell To Be Addressed In State Of The Union

January 25, 2010

The Hill is reporting that Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell will be addressed in the State of the Union.  Earlier today, Kerry Eleveld, with The Advocate, reported that Senator Levin was asked to postpone the Senate Armed Services Committee’s DADT hearings per the request of a senior Defense Department.  Levin said,

“I was hoping to be able to announce a date. I cannot announce a date, but it is our intent to begin those hearings in early February…Bottom line, we’re trying to structure this in a way where we’re not just hearing from the top military people but we’re also hearing from junior officers, enlisted personnel.

In my earlier post, I mentioned that Sen. Levin’s position on DADT is a bit up in the air, but today he said:

I’ve never favored “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
